Edwardian
House in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Area of Great Landscape
Value
Surrey Hills
This substantial Edwardian house stands in 8 acres in the
Surrey Hills. Our brief was to improve the property's function
and spaces.
An Orangery with a central glazed timber lantern was added. This creates space
and character internally and unifies the rear elevation. The redesigned Kitchen
provides greater functionality and space. Light floods into the Kitchen through
a new glazed lantern.
Throughout the house repairs were undertaken to insulate and substantially improve
the fabric of the building. Flat roofs were renewed and existing windows replaced
with double glazed timber sash windows. Heated limestone flooring was introduced
to the Entrance Hall, Kitchen and Orangery.
Electrical and mechanical services have been upgraded.
Purpose made joinery houses information technology and audio visual equipment.
Walnut joinery has been designed for the Study. The new three room Master
Bedroom suite and a Guest Bedroom benefits from re-planning and refitting.
