This Georgian House is located in the designated Glandore and Union
Hall Harbour of Scenic Importance on the southwest coast of Eire and
enjoys beautiful views across the bay.
All that remained of the original
Regency house was the overgrown stonewalls without the protection of
a roof. Our task was to return this once distinguished building to
its former glory. The design solution was to retain the stone facade
and the existing gazebos and to incorporate a classical portico and
glazed classical arches which provide excellent views out to sea. Further
accommodation was created within the new roof space lit by traditional
dormers.
There is a very special sense of place as the building is approached through wrought iron gates, along a stone driveway within a tree lined landscape, before arriving at the classical stone portico.
